LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Craftsman are some of the most recognizable names in the garage door industry. CSS Garage Doors has serviced hundreds of Atlanta homes that use these openers, and while they are not our highest-recommended brands, they still provide good quality and reliability for users. Our team specializes in repairs and installation for all opener makes and models.
These three brands (LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Craftsman) operate under the Chamberlain Group, which means that each of these openers is manufactured by the same parent company and even use many of the same components, but are marketed under different names. What’s the difference?
This is the generic brand that is sold in box stores around the country. You can buy Chamberlain garage door openers from a variety of online or in-store outlets in the Atlanta area.
These products are sold exclusively by Sears, but use more or less the same technology and parts that standard Chamberlain models do.
Considered the professional series, these openers are made by the same company, but offer a step up in quality. They may be higher in price, but still use many of the same interchangeable parts.
Garage door openers purchased through Chamberlain, Craftsman, or LiftMaster are certainly not a bad investment in your garage door. These brands offer a wide range of options that vary in price, motor strength (½ and ¾ HP), and extra features, making it easy to find the perfect garage door opener. These brands are also committed to adding cutting-edge features to newer models, so if you are looking for home automation technology, this could be the right option for you. We especially recommend the LiftMaster 8500 if your garage door needs a wall-mounted jackshaft opener.
Of the three brands, we usually recommend LiftMaster before a Chamberlain or Craftsman model, because they offer a higher standard in reliability. Occasionally, we do run into minor product flaws, but these can be easily fixed by calling a CSS technician. The only brand we rate higher is Linear, which we have found has the fewest products defects and lowest incidence of customer complaints.
